There is much ado about the shroud of Turin. All kinds of theories go around, except for the correct one! Whatever the shroud of Turin may be, it is absolutely not the burial cloth of Christ. It must be concluded that this relic is just one of the many tricks of the great adversary to fool people and at best fill them with a sensation that must pass for reverence. Why am I so sure about this? Well, simply read John chapter 20: 5-7. From those verses it is clear that Christ was buried in swaths and that a separate headcloth was used! It is very well possible that Joseph of Arimathea and Nicodemus laid Christ in the new and clean burial cloth, subsequently giving Him a good scent with the balms they had. For in John 19.40 it is clearly described that the body was wrapped in swaths with the balms.
